Police in Noida have arrested two individuals after a disturbing video of a violent street fight, which showed women being physically assaulted, went viral on social media platforms. The incident, which caused major traffic disruption, occurred in the Barola area.

Viral Video Triggers Police Action

The authorities took suo motu cognisance of the event after the 53-second clip was widely shared and even tagged to senior Noida police officials, prompting public demands for swift action. The video, recorded on December 13, captured a fierce clash between two groups that brought vehicular movement to a complete standstill.

In the footage, some women were seen being pulled violently by their hair and clothes before being thrown onto the ground. The confrontation escalated with some men allegedly wielding plastic pipes, while others hurled stones and bricks across the road. Alarmingly, some children were also caught in the middle of the scuffle. Throughout the chaos, the incessant sound of drivers honking their horns filled the air as commuters remained stranded for several minutes.

Police officials confirmed that, fortunately, no motorists or bystanders were injured by the flying stones. Despite the severity of the altercation, neither of the involved groups has filed a formal written complaint to date.

Arrests and Ongoing Investigation

Following a preliminary investigation based on the viral footage, a team from the Sector 49 police station identified and subsequently arrested two men allegedly involved in the assault. The arrested individuals have been named as Sumit Sharma and Sartaj Ansari.

Police officials stated that efforts are actively underway to identify and apprehend other participants visible in the video. The exact cause or trigger of the dispute is still under investigation, with police working to piece together the events that led to the public brawl.
