Two Arrested with Eight Country-Made Pistols in Khargone

Khargone: Two persons were arrested and eight country-made pistols were seized from them under Bhikangaon police station limits of Khargone district.

Details of the Arrest

Acting on a tip-off received on Monday, a police team set up a blockade near a petrol pump in Saikhedi village. The team stopped two men travelling on a motorcycle and carrying a bag. While checking the bag, the police found eight country-made pistols in it. A motorcycle used for transporting the weapons and two mobile phones were also seized, Khargone SP Ravindra Verma said on Tuesday evening.

Identification of the Accused

The arrested persons were identified as Rahul Sen (32), a resident of Dhulkot village in Bhagwanpura area, who police described as a middleman, and Lucky Gupta (21), a resident of Jalandhar, Punjab, who had allegedly come to Bhikangaon to purchase the firearms.

Interrogation and Source of Weapons

Preliminary interrogation revealed that the weapons were bought from a Sikligar in Signur village, SP said.

Previous Incident

Two days ago, Bhikangaon police had arrested Aminul Islam, 27, a native of Murshidabad district in West Bengal who was residing in Nipania area in Indore, with five country-made pistols.

This operation highlights the ongoing efforts of Khargone police to curb the illegal arms trade in the region. Further investigations are underway to trace the network involved in the manufacturing and supply of these weapons.
