Tragic Car Crash in Trichy Claims Two Lives, Leaves Four Seriously Injured
A devastating road accident in Trichy district resulted in the deaths of two individuals and left four others with severe injuries on Monday. The incident occurred in the Thottiyam taluk area, where a high-speed collision between two vehicles led to a catastrophic chain of events involving bystanders.
Details of the Fatal Accident in Kattuputhur
According to police sources, the tragedy unfolded in front of a meat shop operated by Anbazhagan in Kattuputhur, located within Thottiyam taluk of Trichy district. At the time, Kaushik, a 35-year-old resident of Namakkal, was driving his car through the area with his 60-year-old mother, Eswari, as a passenger.
The sequence of events took a horrific turn when a speeding car approaching from behind suddenly lost control. This vehicle, driven at excessive speed, sideswiped Kaushik's car with tremendous force. The impact was so severe that it caused Kaushik's vehicle to violently swerve off its intended path.
Collision with Bystanders and Subsequent Carnage
The out-of-control car first struck several bystanders who were standing near parked motorcycles in the vicinity. The force of the collision propelled the vehicle directly into the meat shop, causing significant structural damage and leaving the individuals in its path with life-threatening injuries.
Among the victims, R Subash, a 42-year-old from Chinnapallipalayam, tragically succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the hospital for emergency treatment. In a separate development, K Kodiyarasu, aged 55 and hailing from Sriramasamudram, passed away later while receiving care at the Karur Government Hospital.

- Praveen, an 18-year-old bystander
- Vadivel, a 50-year-old bystander
- Kaushik, the driver of the initially struck vehicle

Law enforcement authorities have taken swift action in response to the incident. Police have arrested K Tharanitharan, a 22-year-old from Karur district, who has been identified as the driver responsible for the speeding vehicle that initiated the catastrophic chain of events.
