Tragic Scooter Crash Claims Two Lives on Ludhiana-Delhi Highway
A devastating road accident on Monday afternoon resulted in the deaths of two men and left a third seriously injured when their scooter collided with a stationary truck on a flyover in Ludhiana. The incident occurred near the Mohan Dai Cancer Hospital on the busy Ludhiana-Delhi national highway, sending shockwaves through the local community.
Details of the Fatal Collision
According to the Moti Nagar police, the three friends were traveling together on a single scooter from the Sherpur area towards Samrala Chowk. As they crossed the hospital and approached the overbridge near Transport Nagar, the vehicle allegedly went out of control due to excessive speed. The scooter then rammed into a mini truck that was parked on the roadside of the flyover.
The deceased have been identified as Vijay Masih, aged 43, from Ghati Mohalla, and Gaurav Sehgal, aged 38, from Jassian Road. The injured survivor is Abhi Pal, a 23-year-old resident of Ahata Sherganj, who was subsequently referred to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGI) in Chandigarh for advanced medical treatment.
Police Investigation and Sequence of Events
Sub-inspector Bhupinder Singh, the Station House Officer of Moti Nagar police station, provided crucial details from the preliminary investigation. Vijay Masih was operating the scooter at the time of the accident and died instantly upon impact. Gaurav Sehgal and Abhi Pal were rushed to a nearby hospital, where Gaurav later succumbed to his severe injuries. Abhi Pal remains hospitalized and is receiving care for his wounds.
The investigation revealed that the truck driver had parked the vehicle on the roadside to relieve himself. After the collision, the driver fled the scene, leaving the truck behind. An First Information Report (FIR) has been officially registered against the absconding truck driver, and a manhunt is currently underway to locate him. Police authorities are continuing their investigation to determine all contributing factors to this tragic event.

Vijay Masih, who tragically lost his life in the crash, worked as a street vendor to support his family. He is survived by his wife and two children, who are now grappling with this sudden and profound loss.
