Two die in motorcycle-truck crash near Otur

Pune: Two men died after their motorcycle collided head-on with a container truck at Dumbarwadi village near Otur, about 105km from Pune, on the Kalyan-Nagar highway late on Saturday night.

Victims Identified

The Pune Rural police identified the deceased as Pranav Dumbre (25), a resident of Otur in Junnar taluka, and Ganesh Gadekar (26), a resident of Dingore village in the same taluka.

Accident Details

The accident occurred around 11.15pm when Dumbre and Gadekar were travelling from Ale Phata towards Otur on a motorcycle. A container truck coming from the Kalyan side collided with their motorcycle, resulting in both men dying on the spot, according to an officer from the Otur police.

The officer said the truck driver informed the police about the accident. The collision led to traffic congestion on the highway. A police team rushed to the spot, moved the damaged vehicles to the roadside, and restored the flow of traffic.

Legal Action

We have registered a case against the truck driver for causing death by negligence, the officer added.
