Two held in Ghaziabad for salon worker murder

Ghaziabad: Police detained two men on Monday in connection with the murder of Tasleem alias Cheeni (21), a salon worker from Loni. On June 10, Tasleem was stabbed to death allegedly by a group that lured him out and later chased him down when he tried to escape. Four months ago, Tasleem was released on bail in a murder case involving the brother of one of the arrested accused.

Sabir (22) and Aameen (20), both residents of Ashok Vihar in Loni, were arrested on Monday. Four others named in the FIR are still absconding. Initially, an FIR was registered against Faisal, Sheruddin, Aamir and Ayaan under Section 103 (murder) and 3(5) (common intention) of BNS at Loni police station based on a police complaint filed by Tasleem’s father Asgar.

According to ACP (Loni) Siddharth Gautam, Asgar alleged that Faisal had called his son out and brought him to Malik City mazaar, where Sheruddin, Aamir and Ayaan were waiting for them. The group launched an attack on Tasleem, who initially escaped to a nearby shop but was chased down and stabbed several times. Tasleem’s cousins, Tayyab and Taseem, eventually found him and brought him to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Asgar told police that Tayyab and Taseem had seen the accused flee the spot with weapons like knives in their hands. CCTV footage, however, led cops to Sabir and Aameen.

Sabir told cops that Tasleem, along with his friend Rihan, murdered his brother Yunus in March last year. Sheruddin was a witness in the case. Owing to this enmity, Tasleem had allegedly uploaded several videos on social media and issued threats against them, particularly threatening Sheruddin over testifying. Due to this, on June 10, Sabir and his friend Aameen stabbed Tasleem to death, Sabir said.

“Police are investigating the involvement of other accused, who are named in the FIR,” the ACP added.
