Security Forces Nab Two Hybrid Terrorists in Sopore
In a significant joint operation conducted on Thursday, police and security forces apprehended two hybrid terrorists in the Moominabad area of Sopore, Kashmir. The Kashmir Zone police confirmed the successful operation that led to the arrest of the two individuals identified as Shabir Najar and Shabir Mir.
During the operation, security personnel recovered arms, ammunition, and various incriminating materials from the possession of the arrested individuals. Officials have stated that further details about the investigation remain confidential as the probe is still ongoing, according to ANI reports.
Nationwide Security Crackdown Intensifies
This security operation comes just days after the devastating blast near Delhi's Red Fort on November 10, which resulted in 13 fatalities and multiple injuries. The investigation into the Delhi explosion has revealed that Dr. Umar un Nabi from Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir was likely the sole occupant of the vehicle that exploded in the capital.
Meanwhile, security forces have ramped up operations across Kashmir. Earlier on Thursday, Pulwama Police conducted coordinated Cordon and Search Operations (CASOs) at multiple suspected locations throughout the district as part of their ongoing campaign against anti-national elements.
The operations specifically targeted individuals involved in unlawful and anti-national activities, including residents of Jammu and Kashmir operating from Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, along with other subversive networks.
Multi-District Security Operations Underway
Police and security forces conducted thorough searches of several premises, leading to the identification of numerous suspects. The Pulwama Police has reaffirmed its commitment to continuing such operations to dismantle terror-support structures, curb anti-national propaganda, and maintain peace throughout the district.
In related developments, Anantnag police executed coordinated raids against the banned organization Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) on Wednesday. Simultaneously, in Kulgam district, authorities intensified vehicle checking operations, particularly at the strategic Navyug tunnel entry point to Kashmir.
Kulgam SSP Anayat Ali Choudhary reported that during these heightened security measures, police apprehended a Nepali citizen and seized a consignment of 'charas' on Tuesday. The senior police official emphasized that security forces remain on high alert across all entry points and strategic locations in the region.
Hybrid terrorists represent a new security challenge, described by security forces as individuals who aren't formally listed as ultras but are sufficiently radicalized to execute terror attacks before blending back into their normal daily routines. Security agencies characterize these operatives as "boys next door" who come from stable families and are well-integrated within their communities, making them particularly difficult to identify and track.
