Two Fatal Hit-and-Run Accidents Rock Ghaziabad Under Kotwali Police Jurisdiction

In a tragic series of events, two people lost their lives in separate hit-and-run incidents within the jurisdiction of the Kotwali police station in Ghaziabad. Police officials confirmed the fatalities, noting that none of the accused drivers have been apprehended so far, with investigations actively underway to track them down.

First Incident: Private Bus Collision Claims Clerk's Life

The first fatal accident occurred on Thursday near Hapur Mor, where a 35-year-old clerk from a private company in Delhi was killed. The victim, identified as Yash Priya Mohan, a resident of Rama Garhi in Sihani Gate, was traveling on his scooter when it was struck from behind by a private bus. According to police reports, the bus was being driven recklessly and at high speed, leading to the collision.

Yash's younger brother, Om Priya Mohan, lodged a formal complaint detailing the incident. He stated that Yash left his home for Delhi around 9:45 AM and was hit near Hapur Mor GT Road. "Due to the collision, my brother was flung onto the road. Although he was wearing a helmet, the impact caused fatal injuries," Om recounted. Despite the presence of many locals at the accident spot, the bus driver abandoned the vehicle and managed to escape.

The driver was identified using the bus number, and the vehicle has been seized. A dedicated police team has been formed to apprehend the suspect, with authorities also reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area to aid in the investigation.

Second Incident: Motorcyclist Succumbs to Injuries After Crash

In a separate case, a 42-year-old man riding a motorcycle was killed by an unknown vehicle near the Lal Kuan flyover. The accident took place on Wednesday morning, but the victim, Ankur Singh, a resident of Bheemnagar in the Crossing Republik area, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment on Thursday.

Sonu Kumar, the brother-in-law of the deceased, filed a complaint stating that Ankur was en route to the Lal Kuan gas agency at 8:30 AM on Wednesday when the incident occurred. "Near the Bikaner Cut of Lal Kuan Flyover, the driver of an unknown vehicle, driving rashly and negligently, hit my brother-in-law's motorcycle from behind, causing him serious injuries. On Thursday, around 10:30 AM, he succumbed to his injuries at GTB Hospital in Delhi," Kumar explained.

The SHO of Kotwali police station confirmed that a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against the unknown driver. Police are currently examining CCTV footage from the vicinity in an effort to identify the perpetrator and bring them to justice.

Ongoing Investigations and Community Impact

These back-to-back hit-and-run accidents have highlighted significant road safety concerns in Ghaziabad, particularly under the Kotwali police station's area. The incidents underscore the dangers of reckless driving and the challenges law enforcement faces in apprehending fleeing suspects. Authorities are intensifying their efforts, including:

  • Forming specialized teams to track down the identified bus driver.
  • Scrutinizing CCTV recordings from both accident locations to gather evidence.
  • Pursuing legal actions under relevant sections of the BNS to ensure accountability.

As the investigations progress, the community mourns the loss of two lives and calls for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations to prevent such tragedies in the future. The police have urged anyone with information to come forward to assist in solving these cases.
