Two killed in hit-and-run accidents in Tiruvallur

Chennai: Two people—a petrol bunk employee and a flower vendor—were killed in separate hit-and-run accidents in Tiruvallur district on Friday.

First Incident at Arambakkam

In the first incident at Arambakkam, Nagaraj, 38, a resident of Elavur village, was knocked down and run over by a speeding lorry while he was crossing the Chennai-Kolkata highway near Elavur Bazaar. He died on the spot. The body was moved to the Ponneri Government Hospital. The Arambakkam police have registered a case and are searching for the absconding lorry driver.

Second Incident at Mettu Colony

In the second incident, Munivel, 58, a resident of Panchalai village, had gone to NM Kandigai village on Friday to sell flowers. On his way back home, his two-wheeler was rammed by an unregistered sports motorcycle near Mettu Colony. He sustained severe head injuries and was taken to a government hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival. The Pathirivedu police have registered a case.
