Tragic Head-On Collision on Kanpur-Etawah Highway Claims Two Lives
A devastating road accident on the Kanpur-Etawah Highway resulted in the deaths of two young individuals and left two others with serious injuries. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, casting a pall of sorrow over the region.
Details of the Fatal Collision
The accident took place around 1:30 am near the Kumbhi Doodh Factory, under the jurisdiction of the Akbarpur police station in Kanpur Dehat. According to preliminary reports, a car traveling from Kanpur to Auraiya lost control, veered across the divider, and entered the opposite lane. It then collided head-on with another vehicle coming from Auraiya towards Kanpur.
The impact of the collision was so severe that both vehicles were completely wrecked, highlighting the violent nature of the crash. Emergency services were promptly alerted, and police arrived at the scene upon receiving information.
Victims and Immediate Response
The occupants of the vehicles involved in the accident have been identified as residents of Prayagraj. The injured individuals include Shreshtha Kesarwani from Pritam Nagar, Thana Dhoomanganj; Gaurav from Chowk; Himanshu Kesarwani from Dhoomanganj; and Ravi from Chowk.
Police, with the assistance of 108 ambulances, swiftly transported all the injured to the district hospital for medical attention. Tragically, doctors at the hospital declared Himanshu Kesarwani and Ravi dead upon arrival, while the other two victims are receiving treatment for their serious injuries.
Police Investigation and Aftermath
Station House Officer Harmeet Singh stated that the causes of the accident are currently under investigation. Authorities have taken several steps in the aftermath:
- The bodies of the deceased have been sent to the mortuary for further procedures.
- Police coordinated the removal of the damaged vehicles from the road to clear the scene.
- Traffic flow on the Kanpur-Etawah Highway was restored following the clearance operations.
