Jabalpur: Two men were killed on the spot when a speeding pick-up vehicle rammed into their motorcycle in Katni district late on Monday, police said.
Accident Details
The accident took place near Tewari village under Sleemanabad police station area. The victims, identified as Santosh Sen and Chandu Adivasi, residents of Ghughra village, were travelling from Tewari towards Bihari on a motorcycle. Police said the speeding pick-up vehicle hit the bike with great force, killing both men instantly.
Driver Flees Scene
After the collision, the pick-up vehicle veered off the road while the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene before police arrived.
Sleemanabad police station in charge Sudesh Suman said, “Both the deceased are aged around 40 years. The incident took place on Monday late evening. We have seized the vehicle but its driver managed to escape, and a hunt has been launched to arrest him.”
Investigation Underway
Soon after receiving information about the accident, a police team reached the spot and began an investigation. The bodies were sent for post-mortem examination, and efforts are underway to trace the absconding driver.
The incident once again raised concerns over road safety and reckless driving in the district, where a series of fatal road accidents have been reported in recent weeks.
