Two Killed, Driver Injured in Poultry Truck Crash on Pune-Bengaluru Highway
A devastating road accident on the outskirts of Belagavi city resulted in two fatalities and left the driver with serious injuries in the early hours of Tuesday. The incident occurred on the busy Pune-Bengaluru National Highway, where a goods vehicle transporting poultry birds collided with a truck that was parked on the roadside.
Details of the Fatal Collision
The deceased passengers have been identified as Wasim, aged 28, and Mubaraq, aged 22, both residents of Sorab taluk in Belagavi district. The driver, Basavaraj Hanchinamani, 37, from Mugaligoppa village in Shikaripur taluk, sustained severe injuries in the crash. According to preliminary reports from police sources, it is suspected that the accident happened after the driver lost control of the vehicle, leading to the catastrophic impact with the stationary truck.
Aftermath and Response
In addition to the human casualties, hundreds of poultry birds perished in the accident, adding to the tragic toll. The injured driver was promptly shifted to BIMS Hospital in Belagavi for urgent medical treatment. Personnel from the Hirebagewadi police station swiftly visited the scene to conduct a thorough inspection and initiate an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
