Ludhiana: Two individuals, among them a tyre mechanic, lost their lives when a speeding truck struck them on GT Road near Barmalipur Chowk in Doraha on Thursday. According to police, the mechanic was repairing a punctured tyre of a vehicle, while another man, who had been traveling in that vehicle, was standing close by at the time of the collision.
Victims Identified
The deceased have been identified as Rasal Singh, a resident of Kapurthala, and Raghubir Singh, from Palla village in Payal. Sources indicate that Rasal Singh was traveling in a Bolero with an acquaintance when the vehicle experienced a puncture near Barmalipur Chowk. A local mechanic, Raghubir Singh, was summoned from a nearby shop. As he worked on fixing the tyre and Rasal Singh stood nearby, an allegedly speeding truck struck them.
Fatal Injuries
Both men sustained critical injuries and died at the scene. Upon receiving information, police arrived at the location, removed the bodies, and impounded the truck involved. The bodies were subsequently placed in the government hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination.
SHO Doraha, Inspector Akash Datt, confirmed the fatalities. He stated that a case has been registered against the identified driver. The investigation is ongoing.
