Tragic Car Crash Claims Two Lives in Korba District

Two men from Bilaspur lost their lives in a horrific car accident late Tuesday night in Chhattisgarh's Korba district. Their vehicle skidded off the road and fell nearly thirty feet into a deep gorge before bursting into flames. The victims were traveling to attend the popular Taatapani Mahotsav when the tragedy struck.

Details of the Fatal Incident

The accident occurred around midnight near the Madanpur Nala bridge close to the Moraga police outpost. According to police reports, the car went out of control and crashed into the valley below. Local passersby spotted the burning wreckage in the gorge and immediately alerted authorities.

A police team from the Moraga outpost along with personnel from Bango police station rushed to the scene. Unfortunately, by the time they arrived, the vehicle was completely engulfed in flames and both occupants had perished.

Victims Identified

The deceased have been identified as Gopal Chandra, aged forty-two, and Arun Sen, aged thirty-six. Both men were residents of Torwa in Bilaspur district. They had left their homes specifically to join the ongoing Taatapani festival celebrations.

Police Investigation Underway

Police officials stated that initial findings suggest the car lost control possibly due to high speed or poor visibility during nighttime conditions. However, investigators are examining all possible angles including mechanical failure and existing road conditions.

Authorities have informed the families of both victims, who reached the accident site early Wednesday morning. Police officials expressed deep grief over the tragic deaths and made a strong appeal to commuters.

Safety Measures Strengthened

In the wake of this accident, police have announced they are strengthening patrolling and safety measures on approach routes to the Taatapani festival. This popular event attracts visitors from several districts across the region.

Officers emphasized the need for extra caution while driving on hilly terrain or poorly lit stretches, particularly during late hours. The investigation continues as authorities work to determine the exact cause of this devastating accident.
