Two Men Killed, Teen Wounded in Batala Village Ambush

Chandigarh: Two men were killed and a teenager was wounded during an evening walk in Bhoma village, Batala, on Monday night. The victims, identified as Kashmir Singh (40) and local kabaddi player Jugraj Singh (19), were ambushed on the village outskirts between 9 pm and 9:30 pm. A third companion, also named Jugraj Singh (18), remains hospitalized with gunshot wounds.

Attack Details

According to Batala Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mehtab Singh Gill, at least four shooters on motorcycles carried out the attack. Investigators believe personal rivalry was the motive, with Kashmir Singh, son of a former village head, being the primary target.

SSP Gill stated, "The incident seems to have no extortion angle or link to any gang." He added that the families had reported no prior threats. Kashmir Singh had a criminal record related to drug peddling from 2021 and was released from jail in 2023.

Police Investigation

Police are following several leads to identify the gunmen, while forensic teams continue to process the scene. The condition of the hospitalized teenager is stated to be stable.
