Coimbatore: The Kattoor police have launched a search for two men who stole six gold coins from a jewellery showroom on Cross Cut Road at Gandhipuram here a few days ago.

According to police, the incident took place during peak business hours on June 9, when the shop employees were attending to customers. The theft came to light during a routine inventory check the following day.

“Abdullah, of Kuniyamuthur, who works as the store manager, noticed that six gold coins of 10 grams each were missing from the stock. He immediately alerted the shop owner, and the management proceeded to review the store’s CCTV footage,” a police officer said.

Surveillance Footage Reveals Suspects

Upon scrutinizing the surveillance footage, they found two young men pocketing six gold coins on June 9 while pretending to see jewellery and leaving the premises without raising suspicion. Abdullah subsequently lodged a complaint with the Katoor police, who registered a case and initiated an investigation.

“Images of the suspects obtained from CCTV cameras have been circulated to all police stations in the district, and a manhunt has been launched to track them down,” the officer said.
