Two Miscreants Shoot Man in Kurukshetra, MLA Blames Police

KURUKSHETRA: Two miscreants shot at a man in Shahabad's Jalebi Pul area in Kurukshetra district late at night on Sunday. The injured man has been identified as Sunil Bhatia, who works in mining.

Sunil was rushed to the civil hospital in Shahabad, from where he was taken for treatment to Adesh Hospital on National Highway 44. Doctors at Adesh Hospital referred him further to PGIMER, Chandigarh.

According to police, two bullets hit Sunil — one in his neck and shoulder, and another in his left thigh. The miscreants fled the spot immediately after committing the crime.

Shahabad SHO Jagdish Kumar reached the hospital to investigate the matter and initiated further action after registering a case against unknown persons. Family members and relatives of Sunil also arrived at the hospital.

Congress Shahabad MLA Ram Karan Kala also reached Adesh Hospital to meet Sunil and his family members.

"Such firing incidents have become routine in the region. A person earning his livelihood through hard work is not safe. It is a failure of the police and administration. Extortions are being demanded in small towns like Shahabad and Ladwa. There is a serious lapse on the part of the government. Our entire Shahabad region stands firmly with Sunil's family, and we pray for his early recovery," said Shahabad MLA Ram Karan.

The MLA stated that the state government must work to bring misguided youth out of the clutches of anti-social elements. He demanded from the Haryana chief minister strict and exemplary punishment for such elements and justice for Sunil's family.

SHO Kumar said that Sunil's condition is reported to be stable, and he has undergone major surgery at a Chandigarh hospital.

"We have formed five special teams to trace the miscreants, and the accused will be apprehended soon. The motive behind the firing incident will be ascertained after the arrests are made," said SHO Kumar.
