Two More Accused Arrested in Itaunja Abduction and Assault Case
In a significant development, police in the Itaunja area have arrested two additional suspects in connection with an alleged abduction and assault case, officials confirmed on Saturday. This brings the total number of arrests to five, as authorities intensify their crackdown on the incident that has shocked the local community.
Details of the Incident and Initial Arrests
The case dates back to February 23, when Arun Kumar Singh, a resident of Bhiraspur village in Sitapur district, filed a formal complaint. He alleged that a group of men deliberately rammed their SUV into the motorcycle of his younger brother, Alok Singh, who was riding with his friend, Shanu Pandey. Following the collision, the accused reportedly assaulted both victims before abducting Alok Singh and issuing death threats.
An FIR was promptly registered at the Itaunja police station, leading to swift police action. On February 24, authorities rescued Alok Singh and arrested three primary suspects: Shailesh Yadav, Rahul Yadav, and Sumit Singh. These individuals were subsequently sent to judicial custody, marking the first phase of the investigation.
Latest Arrests and Police Investigation
The investigation took a further turn on Saturday with the arrest of two more accused: Shivam Yadav, also known as Pradhan (aged 25), and Divakar Yadav (aged 22). Both are residents of Khajuri Indara village and were apprehended from the Arjunpur area by a joint team from the DCP North surveillance unit and Itaunja police.
Itaunja SHO inspector in charge Markandey Yadav stated, "Our teams worked tirelessly to track down and arrest the remaining suspects. We have also seized the SUV used in the crime, which is a crucial piece of evidence."
Root Cause: Long-Standing Property and Mining Dispute
Police have revealed that the abduction and assault stem from a protracted dispute between the parties involved. The conflict centers around property rights and the mining of mud in the Sitapur region, highlighting how local economic interests can escalate into violent confrontations.
