Jaipur Police Nab Two More Suspects in Japanese Tourist Harassment Incident
In a significant development, the Jaipur City Police on Thursday apprehended two more individuals suspected of involvement in the alleged harassment of a Japanese tourist near the historic Jaigarh Fort earlier this week. This latest action elevates the total number of accused persons currently in police custody to four, marking a crucial step forward in the ongoing investigation.

The newly arrested individuals have been officially identified as Arshad Khan, a resident of Ramganj, and Sahil Khan, who hails from Balaji Ka Rasta in the Ghat Gate area of Jaipur. According to police officials, both suspects had been actively evading capture since the incident occurred. Their eventual apprehension was the result of persistent and meticulous tracking efforts, which heavily relied on the analysis of closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage and advanced technical surveillance methods deployed across the region.

The distressing event unfolded on Sunday morning around 8 a.m. in the Amber area, near Jaigarh Fort. The Japanese tourist, who had arrived in Rajasthan just a few days prior, was walking along a relatively secluded stretch when she was intercepted by a group of five youths. The individuals reportedly engaged in misbehavior and outraged her modesty, causing significant distress.
Displaying remarkable presence of mind, the woman raised an alarm and swiftly ran towards a nearby security guard. The guard promptly alerted the local police authorities. However, by the time law enforcement teams arrived at the scene, the accused had already fled, leaving investigators to piece together the sequence of events from available evidence.
Legal Framework and Investigative Efforts
In response to the incident, a formal case was registered at the Amber police station under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. To identify the perpetrators, investigators undertook an extensive review of footage from more than 50 CCTV cameras strategically positioned across Amber, the routes leading to Jaigarh Fort, and the connecting roads to Jaipur. This comprehensive digital sweep proved instrumental in tracing the movements of the suspects.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Karan Sharma provided insights into the investigative process, noting that earlier arrests had already included Ameenudhin, aged 24, and a minor. "A dedicated police team was specifically formed to track down all individuals involved in this case," Sharma stated. "By meticulously analysing the CCTV footage and tracing the vehicles used by the suspects, we were able to successfully identify and arrest them."
