Jamshedpur witnessed two separate murders late on Tuesday, both allegedly linked to extra-marital affairs. The incidents occurred in different police station jurisdictions within the city.
First Incident: Man Bludgeoned to Death
In the first case, 35-year-old Mohan Soren was bludgeoned to death within the Pursudih police station limits. According to police, the accused, 50-year-old Raju Murmu, allegedly attacked Mohan with a cooking vessel and sticks after finding him with his wife. The confrontation escalated into a violent brawl. Raju's wife fled to a neighbor's home for safety and discovered Mohan's body when she returned the next morning. Mohan, a resident of Odisha, lived with his brother in Naya Basti, Sundernagar. The woman claimed that Mohan treated her as a relative and referred to her as Mami (aunt).
Police officer-in-charge Avinash Kumar stated, "Raju was arrested from his home and sent to jail. An investigation is underway."
Second Incident: Woman Beaten to Death
In another incident within the MGM police station limits, 38-year-old Gita Mandal was allegedly beaten to death by her 45-year-old husband, Bapi Mandal. Preliminary police investigation revealed that a violent dispute erupted because the couple mutually suspected each other of having extra-marital affairs. DSP Patamda Bachan Deo Kujur reported, "The argument escalated rapidly, following which Bapi attacked his wife with a heavy mortar." Gita was rescued by family members and taken to Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College and Hospital, where doctors declared her dead. Bapi was arrested from Ulidih on Wednesday.
Both cases are under investigation, with authorities working to gather further evidence and statements from witnesses.
