Vadodara Police Investigate Two Major Snatching Incidents in 24 Hours

Vadodara has been rocked by two separate high-value snatching incidents reported within a span of just 24 hours, according to police statements released on Thursday. The cases involve significant losses of gold jewellery and cash, prompting urgent investigations by local authorities.

Senior Citizen and Daughter Targeted in Gold Jewellery Snatching

In the first incident, which occurred on Wednesday evening, a senior citizen and her daughter became victims of a brazen robbery. Jaymala Dutta, accompanied by her daughter Anuradha, had visited a jewellery showroom near Bird Circle in Vadodara to purchase gold ornaments. After completing their purchase, the two women departed for home on a two-wheeler, with Jaymala riding pillion while carrying a purse containing the newly acquired jewellery valued at over Rs 2.21 lakh.

As they approached Krunal Crossroads and prepared to make a turn, two unidentified men on a scooter allegedly approached from behind and snatched the purse containing the valuable ornaments. Anuradha subsequently filed a formal complaint against the unidentified duo at the local police station.

Police investigators revealed that CCTV footage from the area is currently being examined for clues. Preliminary analysis suggests the accused may have been following the women from outside the jewellery showroom, indicating they were aware the victims had just purchased valuable jewellery.

Second Incident Involves Cash Snatching on Old Padra Road

In a separate but equally concerning incident, a 58-year-old man reported a snatching case at the J P Road police station on Thursday. The complainant, identified as Kalpesh Mahant, informed authorities that he was returning home from Tandalja on Old Padra Road when three men on a two-wheeler approached him.

Mahant was carrying a bag containing Rs 1.51 lakh in cash when one of the accused allegedly snatched the bag before the trio fled the scene. This incident occurred within the same 24-hour period as the jewellery snatching, raising concerns about coordinated criminal activity in the area.

Police Launch Comprehensive Investigations

Vadodara police have initiated separate investigations into both cases, with teams working to identify and apprehend the suspects involved. Authorities are examining multiple angles, including possible connections between the two incidents and whether organized criminal elements are operating in the city.

Police officials have urged citizens to remain vigilant, especially when carrying valuable items, and to report any suspicious activity immediately. The investigations continue with forensic teams analyzing evidence and witness statements being collected to build comprehensive cases against the perpetrators.
