Tragic Road Accidents Claim Lives of Two Teenage Boys in Tamil Nadu
In a heartbreaking series of events, two minor boys have died in separate road accidents in Coimbatore and Erode districts of Tamil Nadu, highlighting the dangers of underage driving. Both incidents involved teenagers operating scooters without proper licenses, resulting in fatal outcomes.
Coimbatore Incident: 17-Year-Old Succumbs to Injuries
The first tragedy occurred in Coimbatore, where A Varun Dharman, a 17-year-old resident of Gandhipuram, passed away at the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital on Wednesday night. He had been undergoing treatment since February 7, when he met with an accident near the Gandhipuram bus stand in the city.
According to police reports, Varun was riding a scooter with two of his friends as pillion riders. During the incident, he sustained severe injuries to his face and head, while the other two boys survived with minor injuries. Despite medical efforts, he did not respond to treatment and was declared dead. The traffic investigation wing (East) police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances of the accident.
Erode Incident: 15-Year-Old Student Dies on the Spot
In a separate incident in Erode district, J Gowtham, a 15-year-old from Varathampalayam in Sathyamangalam, lost his life on Thursday evening. The Class X student was returning home on a scooter after meeting friends when the accident occurred around 8:30 PM on Bannari Road.
Police stated that Gowtham's two-wheeler collided with a tourist bus that was ahead of him, causing him to fall off the vehicle. He suffered severe injuries on the left side of his head and died instantly at the scene. The Sathyamangalam police recovered the body and sent it to the Sathyamangalam Government Hospital for a postmortem examination. A case has been registered, and authorities are looking into the details of the crash.

These incidents have brought renewed attention to the issue of underage driving and road safety in the region. Local police emphasize that operating vehicles without a valid license, especially by minors, is illegal and poses significant risks.
