Chennai: Two women were killed in separate road accidents reported in Kancheepuram district on Sunday. The incidents have left the local community in shock.
First Incident: Elderly Woman Dies After Falling from Tourist Van
In the first incident, Akhila, 68, a resident of Salabogam area in Kancheepuram taluk, died after falling from a moving tourist van near Kundukulam village. According to police, she was travelling from Salabogam to Kundukulam and was seated near the vehicle's steps. When the van took a turn near the Kundukulam bus stop, she lost her balance and fell onto the road, sustaining severe head injuries.
She was initially admitted to the Kancheepuram Government Hospital and later referred to the Chengalpet Government Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead. The Baluchetti Chatram police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
Second Incident: Woman Killed in Scooter-Bus Collision
In another tragic incident, P Kanmani, 30, of Orikkai Military Road, was killed after a private factory bus rammed the scooter on which she was travelling with her husband on the Kancheepuram-Walajabad highway. Police reported that the couple was returning home from a family function when the accident occurred near Venkudi village. Kanmani died on the spot, while her husband Premkumar sustained injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The Walajabad police have registered a case and are conducting an investigation to determine the exact cause of the collision.
