Two Youths Found Dead in Punjab Field, Bodies Damaged by Dogs

Jalandhar: Two youths in their 20s, who had arrived in the Doaba region with a combine harvester for maize harvesting, were discovered dead near Jando Sarai village, close to Kartarpur, police reported on Monday.

Victims Identified

The deceased have been identified as Jaspreet Singh, a resident of Ferozepur district, and Gagandeep Singh, from Muktsar district. They were employed in the fields of a farmer in Bullowal village and had been missing for the past two days.

Injuries from Stray Animals

Police noted that parts of the bodies appeared to have been damaged by stray dogs.

Kartarpur DSP Narinder Singh Aujla stated that one of the youths had accompanied his father on the harvesting machine. The two had reportedly taken Rs 1,000 for liquor and other expenses before they vanished.

The DSP added that the families had not expressed any suspicion of foul play. The exact cause of death will be determined following the post-mortem examination, he said.
