A late-night journey turned fatal for two young men when their motorcycle collided with a tractor on the Trichy–Madurai National Highway. The tragic incident occurred on Friday night near Manapparai in the Trichy district, claiming both lives on the spot.

Details of the Fatal Collision

According to the Valanadu police, the deceased have been identified as M Kathar Maideen, 23, a butcher shop employee, and his friend K Absher, 20, a student. Both residents hailed from Melur in Trichy district. The duo was returning home on a sports bike after a visit to Trichy city.

The accident took place as they were crossing the Soriyampatti bridge. Police reports indicate that the youths lost control of their motorcycle and subsequently rammed into the rear of a vehicle ahead of them. The impact was so severe that it resulted in their instantaneous death.

Police Investigation and Search for Driver

Law enforcement officials rushed to the scene upon receiving information. The bodies were recovered and sent to the Manapparai Government Hospital for a post-mortem examination. A case has been registered, and a detailed investigation is currently in progress.

On Saturday, investigators examined footage from CCTV cameras installed near the accident site. The footage helped them identify the other vehicle involved as a tipper tractor. Preliminary findings suggest the tractor driver allegedly fled the spot immediately after the collision.

"It appears the youths were riding recklessly and hit the rear of the tipper tractor. Efforts are on to trace the vehicle," a police official told the Times of India. The police are actively working to locate both the tractor and its driver to ascertain the complete sequence of events.

The sudden demise of the two young individuals has sent shockwaves through their local community in Melur. The incident underscores the persistent dangers on national highways, especially during night travel. Authorities continue to urge all motorists to exercise extreme caution, adhere to speed limits, and avoid reckless driving to prevent such heartbreaking losses.
