The accused, identified as Fauzan Ahmed, was taken into custody following a meticulous investigation that spanned multiple police units.

Details of the Burglary Attempt

According to official reports, the attempted burglary occurred on March 18 at the home of Fatima Apapi, a 38-year-old resident of Shiroor village. The incident unfolded in the early hours while the family was asleep. An unidentified individual, described as approximately 25 years old, forcibly broke open the rear door of the house with the clear intent to commit theft.

Upon entering, the intruder proceeded to open a cupboard, systematically searching for valuables. However, the attempt was thwarted when Fatima awoke and raised an alarm, prompting the accused to flee hastily through the back door. Based on her detailed complaint, a formal case was registered at the Byndoor police station, setting the stage for a swift police response.

Police Investigation and Arrest

Under the strategic guidance of Kundapur subdivision DSP HD Kulkarni and circle inspector Shivakumar, a special task force was assembled to track down the perpetrator. This team, led by PSI Sunil Kumar BY and supported by PSI Naveen P Borkar along with other dedicated staff members, worked diligently to gather evidence and identify the suspect.

Their efforts culminated in the arrest of Fauzan Ahmed on March 20. The investigation revealed that Ahmed was not only involved in the burglary attempt but was also linked to a separate criminal case registered by the Kundapur traffic police.

Connection to Dangerous Wheeling Case

In a parallel development, the Kundapur traffic police had registered a complaint on Thursday, based on information received from the district wireless control room. The case, filed by PSI-2 Sudha Prabhu, involved dangerous wheeling stunts performed on a scooter.

Video footage analysis confirmed that on March 20, between 6 am and 8 am, the accused was riding a blue scooter on NH-66, specifically on the Byndoor-Udupi one-way stretch between Hemmady and Kundapur. The footage showed him riding without a helmet and executing rash wheeling maneuvers, posing a significant risk to human life and public property.

Legal Proceedings and Charges

As a result, a case has been formally registered at the Kundapur traffic police station under Sections 281 and 125 of the BNS, as well as Sections 184 and 129 read with 194D of the IMV Act. These charges address the serious nature of the offenses, emphasizing the endangerment caused by his actions.

Following his arrest, Fauzan Ahmed was produced before a local court, where he was remanded into judicial custody. This dual arrest highlights the effectiveness of inter-departmental police cooperation in addressing varied criminal activities within the region.

The swift action by the Byndoor and Kundapur police units underscores their commitment to maintaining law and order, ensuring that such incidents are promptly investigated and perpetrators are brought to justice.
