A tragic incident unfolded in Dharashiv district late on Saturday, where a 21-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death by his uncle in a violent escalation of a long-standing land dispute. The victim, identified as Sujit Shelke, succumbed to his injuries before medical help could arrive, leaving the local community in shock.

The incident occurred around 10:30 pm in the Khamswadi area. According to police reports, Sujit was asleep at his home with his grandparents when his 45-year-old uncle, Vilas Shelke, arrived and began creating a disturbance. The argument quickly intensified as Vilas started abusing Sujit over the division of their ancestral farmland, a point of contention that had been simmering between the families for some time.
Dharashiv Superintendent of Police Ritu Khoker Kalyan stated, "The families of the accused and the victim had been involved in an ongoing dispute for some time. The tension between them had been simmering, and the accused was allegedly holding a grudge against his nephew over the issue."
Violent Attack and Aftermath
During the heated argument, Vilas allegedly pulled out a knife and attacked Sujit, stabbing him multiple times in the abdomen. The sudden and brutal assault left the young man critically injured. Nearby residents, hearing the commotion, rushed to the scene, but Sujit died before any medical assistance could be provided.
The murder, carried out by a close family member, temporarily heightened tensions in the village, with locals expressing anger and disbelief. Based on a complaint lodged by the victim's mother, a case has been registered at the Shiradhon police station, and a manhunt has been launched to apprehend Vilas Shelke, who is currently on the run.

The body was sent for postmortem and later handed over to the family for performing of last rites. Additional evidence related to the case is being collected from the scene.
