Dumka: A 23-year-old man was shot by unidentified assailants in the Bariyarbandhi area under Town police station limits in Deoghar on Wednesday. The injured man, identified as Abhishek Yadav, a resident of the SKP School area in Bampas Town, sustained a gunshot wound to his waist. He was admitted to Deoghar Sadar Hospital, where his condition remains stable. The attackers fled the scene after the incident.
Yadav informed the police that he was going to attend nature's call after parking his motorbike near the Khoradah Kali temple when two men approached him on a motorcycle. “With their faces covered, they fired at me,” he told the police. The incident took place around 12 pm.
Rajiv Kumar, the officer-in-charge of Deoghar Town police station, stated, “The motive behind the shooting is unclear. However, investigation is being carried out on multiple angles.” Kumar added that a formal complaint has yet to be registered.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the shooting, examining possible motives and leads. The police are reviewing CCTV footage from the area and questioning locals to identify the suspects. The victim's statement is being taken, and further details are awaited.
