UP Govt Approves Rs 4.75 Crore for 10 Advanced Bomb Suits

The Uttar Pradesh government has approved Rs 4.75 crore for the procurement of 10 advanced bomb suits to strengthen the operational capabilities of Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) teams, officials said.

Financial Sanction and Approval

The administrative and financial sanction for the purchase was granted by the Home (Police) Department for the financial year 2026-27 following a proposal submitted by UP Police Headquarters in coordination with the Uttar Pradesh Special Security Force (UPSSF). As per the approval, each bomb suit will cost Rs 47.56 lakh, taking the total procurement cost to Rs 4.75 crore. The expenditure will be booked under the UPSSF’s budget allocation for machinery, equipment and plant.

Enhanced Safety for BDDS Personnel

Officials said the induction of modern bomb suits would significantly enhance the safety of BDDS personnel during high-risk explosive disposal operations. The suits are designed to provide advanced protection against blasts, shrapnel and heat, thereby reducing the risk of casualties during counter-explosive interventions.

Benefits for UPSSF

The move is also expected to benefit the UPSSF directly, as it is tasked with securing vital installations, sensitive government infrastructure and high-footfall public locations across the state. “The procurement will strengthen on-ground preparedness and improve response efficiency during emergencies,” a senior official said.
