UP Govt Reshuffles Senior Police Officers in Major Overhaul

The Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday effected significant changes in the police brass, transferring several senior officers and assigning additional responsibilities to others. The reshuffle aims to streamline operations and strengthen key departments.

Key Appointments and Transfers

Alok Singh, a 1995-batch IPS officer, has been appointed as the Director General (DG) of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) Headquarters. Previously serving as the Additional Director General (ADG) of Kanpur Zone, Singh has also been given the additional charge of DG, Special Security Force.

RK Swarnkar, who was posted as ADG PAC, has been transferred to the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) in the same capacity. This move is expected to leverage his administrative experience in a different sector.

Another 1995-batch officer, Anupam Kulshrestha, has been moved from ADG Agra Zone to ADG Kanpur Zone, filling the vacancy left by Alok Singh.

Other Significant Changes

  • Jai Narayan Singh, a 1994-batch IPS officer, has been shifted from UPPCL and appointed as DG of the Economic Offences Wing (EOW). His expertise will be crucial in tackling financial crimes.
  • DK Thakur has been appointed as the new DG and Commandant General of Home Guards, while retaining the additional charge of Civil Defence.
  • BK Singh, currently serving as DG of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Cyber Crime, has been given the additional charge of UP-112, the state's emergency response system. His leadership in cyber crime resulted in the recovery of Rs 425 crore from cyber frauds and helped Uttar Pradesh top the country in cyber crime resolution.
  • A Satish Ganesh has been given the additional charge of ADG Crime along with Traffic and Road Safety, expanding his portfolio.
  • SK Bhagat, serving as ADG Crime, has been made ADG Agra Zone, replacing Anupam Kulshrestha.
  • Geeta Singh has been shifted from IG Prosecution to IG Training Directorate, a move aimed at enhancing training programs for police personnel.

These changes are part of the state government's ongoing efforts to optimize police administration and improve law and order. The transfers are effective immediately.
