Head Constable in Uttar Pradesh Dismissed Over Serious Misconduct Charges

In a significant disciplinary move, a head constable serving in Lalitpur district of Uttar Pradesh was officially dismissed from service on Tuesday. The action was authorized by SP Lalitpur Mohd Mushtaque, following a comprehensive departmental inquiry that substantiated allegations of harassment, corruption, and criminal misconduct against the accused officer.

Details of the Inquiry and Charges

The accused, identified as Jitendra Yadav, faced multiple serious accusations. According to ASP Lalitpur Kalu Singh, the investigation, which spanned nearly four months, revealed that Yadav had engaged in mentally harassing a woman police official. He was found to have issued threats to "eliminate" her and spread false rumors with the intent to defame her character.

Further allegations surfaced from 2025, when Yadav was posted in the clerical branch in Lalitpur. During this period, he allegedly demanded illegal gratification from fellow police personnel in exchange for processing their leave applications. When a female assistant sub-inspector, who worked as a clerk, became aware of these corrupt practices, Yadav reportedly escalated his misconduct by subjecting her to harassment and intimidation.

Procedural Steps and Fair Investigation

The case began with a preliminary inquiry conducted by the ASP, which initially found Jitendra Yadav guilty. This led to the initiation of formal departmental proceedings under Rule 14 (1) of the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Police Officers (Punishment and Appeal) Rules, 1991. To ensure an impartial and thorough probe, IG Jhansi range Akash Khulari assigned the investigation to SP (Rural) Jhansi Arvind Kumar.

The detailed inquiry conducted by SP Arvind Kumar confirmed all the charges against Yadav. The findings highlighted a pattern of abuse of power, corruption, and threats, ultimately resulting in his dismissal from the police force. This action underscores the commitment of the Uttar Pradesh police to uphold discipline and integrity within its ranks, sending a strong message against misconduct.

This report is based on information from official sources and highlights the rigorous process followed in addressing such serious allegations within the police department.
