Yamunanagar: A man from Uttar Pradesh was arrested with nearly 1 kg of opium worth around Rs 3 lakh during an anti-drug operation by Yamunanagar police, officials said on Monday.

Arrest Made Near Western Yamuna Canal Rest House

DSP headquarters Kawaljit Singh said the special staff team arrested the accused near the Western Yamuna Canal Rest House following a tip-off. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered.

Accused Identified as Ramadhar from Bareilly

The accused, Ramadhar of Bareilly district in Uttar Pradesh, was allegedly waiting to supply the contraband in the area when police raided the spot.

Police said a duty magistrate was called during the search, and nearly 1 kg opium was recovered from the accused in his presence.

Suspected Narcotics Supply Network

Officials suspect the accused was part of a narcotics supply network operating between Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. Police said he would be questioned further to identify the source of the contraband and possible links in the supply chain.
