UP Man Arrested for Aiding Bengaluru Techie in Wife's Murder via Live Location
The Bengaluru city police have made a significant arrest in a chilling murder case, apprehending a 32-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh for allegedly assisting a software engineer in tracking and killing his wife by sharing her live location. This arrest sheds light on a premeditated conspiracy that culminated in a tragic shooting in December 2025.
Details of the Arrest and the Crime
Abhimanyu Singh, who worked as an assistant to a gold merchant in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, was taken into custody for his involvement in the murder of Bhuvaneshwari, a 39-year-old assistant manager at the Union Bank of India's Basaveshwaranagar branch. The incident occurred on the evening of December 23, 2025, in the Industrial Town area under the jurisdiction of the Magadi Road police station in Bengaluru.
Following the shooting, Bhuvaneshwari's husband, Balamurugan, a 40-year-old software engineer, surrendered to the police and was arrested for orchestrating and executing the murder. According to police reports, Balamurugan had meticulously planned the killing for several months, even keeping a knife as a backup weapon in case the shooting failed.
The Role of Abhimanyu Singh and the Conspiracy
Investigations revealed that Abhimanyu Singh played a crucial role in the murder plot. He had established contact with Balamurugan and frequently visited Bengaluru prior to the crime. During these visits, he reportedly frequented a gym located opposite the bank where Bhuvaneshwari worked, closely monitoring her daily routines, including her entry and exit times.
On the day of the murder, Abhimanyu allegedly shared Bhuvaneshwari's live location with Balamurugan, enabling him to track her movements precisely before carrying out the fatal attack. This use of technology to facilitate the crime has raised serious concerns about digital safety and privacy.
Broader Investigation and Additional Arrests
The police investigation uncovered that Balamurugan initially hired Tamil Nadu-based burglar Moulesh Kumar to carry out the shooting. However, when Moulesh repeatedly delayed the execution of the plan, Balamurugan took matters into his own hands and murdered his wife himself. Moulesh was later arrested by Tamil Nadu police during a separate burglary investigation, which led to the recovery of one of the countrymade pistols allegedly procured by Balamurugan.
Further details emerged that Abhimanyu accompanied Moulesh to Bihar to procure two countrymade pistols used in the conspiracy. Two other associates of Moulesh, identified as Surya and Rahul, have also been implicated in the murder plot. Both are currently imprisoned in Tamil Nadu, highlighting the interstate nature of this criminal network.

Technical evidence gathered during the investigation pointed directly to Abhimanyu's involvement. A police officer stated, "Abhimanyu came into contact with Balamurugan and often visited Bengaluru before the murder. He visited a gym located opposite the bank where Bhuvaneshwari worked. He took note of her entry and exit from the bank." This surveillance, combined with the sharing of live location data, was instrumental in enabling the attack.
