UP Police Destroys Over 63,000 Kg of Narcotics in Operation Dahan

The Uttar Pradesh Police has destroyed over 63,000 kilograms of seized narcotic substances as part of a statewide anti-drug disposal drive named 'Operation Dahan', officials confirmed on Monday.

Operation Dahan Overview

The campaign is being conducted by the Anti-Narcotics Task Force under the directives of the Director General of Police, Rajeev Krishna. According to officials, the operation aims to safely and scientifically dispose of illegal narcotic substances that have been stored for years in police station facilities across the state. Initially scheduled from March 1 to May 31, the campaign has been extended until June 30 to fully achieve its targets.

Disposal Process and Compliance

Police stated that the disposal is carried out in accordance with the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Seizure, Storage, Sampling and Disposal) Rules, 2022. Instead of openly burning the contraband, authorities are utilizing incinerators equipped with air pollution control systems to ensure environmentally safe disposal.
