In response to multiple public complaints, the Uttar Pradesh Police has initiated a comprehensive drive to remove loudspeakers from religious establishments across Lucknow. The action, which took place on Sunday, targets unauthorized sound systems operating beyond permissible noise levels.
Police Action Following Public Complaints
The drive was launched after authorities received numerous complaints about several religious places using loudspeakers at excessively high volumes. Police teams conducted coordinated operations across various locations in Lucknow, physically removing loudspeakers that violated established noise regulations.
Officials clarified that this initiative is part of an ongoing campaign to address noise pollution concerns. The current enforcement action gained momentum following specific complaints regarding loudspeakers being used at disturbing decibel levels, particularly during early morning and late evening hours.
Supreme Court Guidelines Enforcement
According to police authorities, the drive strictly follows Supreme Court directives regarding noise pollution control. The Supreme Court has clearly outlined that religious places can only use loudspeakers within limited decibel parameters, a rule that many establishments were allegedly flouting.
DCP West, Vishwajeet Srivastava, provided detailed information about the operation. "There is a Supreme Court direction that religious places can play loudspeakers under limited decibel only. Complaints were coming that loudspeakers were being used at religious places at high decibels of noise," he stated.
Voluntary Compliance and Awareness Campaign
The police approach combines enforcement with education. While police teams are actively visiting different locations and removing loudspeakers operating at prohibited decibel levels, they are also conducting awareness campaigns about noise pollution rules.
Remarkably, in many instances, community members are voluntarily removing loudspeakers once they become aware of the regulations. This cooperative response indicates growing public awareness about noise pollution concerns and respect for legal guidelines.
