UP Women Allegedly Hire Hitmen to Murder Husband After He Discovers Their Relationship
Police in Fatehpur, Uttar Pradesh, have arrested two women for allegedly plotting the murder of a farmer. The victim was the husband of one of the women. Authorities say the murder stemmed from his discovery of their same-sex relationship.
Husband's Discovery Sparks Deadly Plot
Renu Devi, 35, and her partner, Malti Devi, allegedly conspired to kill Renu's husband, Sumer Singh. Singh was a 45-year-old farmer. Police state he found out about the relationship between the two women. He then banned Malti from entering his home.
This action angered both women. Under pressure from Singh to end the secret relationship, they allegedly decided to eliminate him. Their goal was to live together without any opposition.
Contract Killers Hired for Rs 60,000
The duo reportedly recruited three contract killers to carry out the murder. They agreed to pay the hitmen a total of Rs 60,000. Police say the women paid an advance of Rs 8,000 from this amount.
Malti Devi contacted an old acquaintance, Jitendra Gupta, a rickshaw puller. She allegedly offered him the money to kill Sumer Singh. Jitendra then involved two associates in the plan.
Brutal Murder in the Fields
On January 14, Sumer Singh was found dead in his field in Tikar Gram village. He had a slit throat. Police began investigating the case immediately.
According to the investigation, the killers intercepted Singh when he was heading to a tubewell in his fields. They allegedly tied a cloth around his neck and strangled him. When he fell unconscious, they used a sharp weapon to slit his throat. He died on the spot.
Police Investigation Uncovers the Plot
As police probed the murder, the involvement of the two women emerged. Officers have now arrested Renu Devi and Malti Devi. They are in police custody.
Additional Superintendent of Police, Fatehpur, Mahendra Pal Singh, provided details. He said, "Besides Renu and Malti, one of the three contract killers involved in the crime, Raju Sonkar (45), was also arrested."
The other two alleged contract killers, Jitendra Gupta and Ram Prakash, are still at large. Both are local residents. Police have formed special teams to track them down.
Relationship Details Revealed
During questioning, Malti Devi revealed intimate details to the police. She confessed that she and Renu were in a relationship. Malti had even tattooed Renu's name on her hand as a symbol of their bond.
The two women are neighbors. Malti lives with her nine-year-old son. Her husband passed away earlier. Renu was married to the victim, Sumer Singh.
Police say arguments broke out between Singh and his wife after he discovered the affair. Renu refused to sever ties with Malti. This conflict allegedly pushed the women to hatch the murder conspiracy.
Attempt to Avoid Suspicion
To ensure they would not be suspected, Malti stopped visiting Renu's house after the plot began. She allegedly gave Renu a keypad mobile phone. The two used this phone to keep in touch and plan the murder discreetly.
The case highlights a tragic escalation from a secret relationship to a brutal crime. Police continue their investigation to apprehend the remaining accused.
