Arrest After Encounter
The accused, Hemal Khakharia alias Dilip (42) of Gujarat, was arrested following a police encounter on Sunday night. The incident took place in Uttar Pradesh, where the man killed a married woman over a mobile chat dispute and then chopped her body into parts.
Details of the Crime
According to police officials, the accused and the victim were in a relationship. The woman, who was married, had been chatting with another man on her mobile phone, which enraged the accused. In a fit of jealousy, he strangled her to death and later dismembered her body to dispose of the evidence.
Police Investigation
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) said, "The accused has confessed to the crime. He killed the woman because she was chatting with another man on her phone. After the murder, he cut the body into pieces and scattered them in different locations to avoid detection." The police recovered the victim's body parts from various places based on the accused's confession.
Legal Proceedings
The accused has been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including murder and destruction of evidence. He is currently in police custody and will be produced before a local court. The investigation is ongoing to determine if the accused had any accomplices.
