Varanasi Police Commissioner Takes Action Against Underperforming Officials
In a decisive move to enhance law enforcement efficiency, Varanasi Police Commissioner Mohit Agrawal ordered the removal of two police station in-charges on Saturday night. The officials from Bhelupur and Lohta police stations were attached to police lines following a performance review during a crime meeting.
Removal of Station In-Charges for Dissatisfactory Performance
During the late evening meeting, Commissioner Agrawal reviewed the performance of district police station officials. He found the work of Bhelupur police station in-charge Sudhir Kumar Tripathi and Lohta police station in-charge Rajbahadur Maurya to be dissatisfactory. Consequently, both were removed from their posts and reassigned to police lines, signaling a strict stance on accountability.
Agrawal made it clear that only those demonstrating excellence in effective crime control and swift resolution of public grievances will retain their positions as station in-charges. This policy aims to foster a more responsive and efficient police force in Varanasi.
New Appointments and Comprehensive Guidelines
Following the removals, new appointments were swiftly made to ensure continuity in policing. Durga Singh was given charge of Bhelupur police station, while Digambar Upadhyaya took over at Lohta police station. Additionally, Sadhuvan Ram from Kapsethi was transferred to Cholapur, and Vikas Kumar Maurya was appointed as the station officer at Kapsethi.
At the meeting, Commissioner Agrawal issued comprehensive guidelines to transform the police system into a more effective, accountable, and people-oriented entity. Key focus areas included:
- Swift resolution of previously pending personnel issues
- Priority hearing for new problems
- Prompt action on matters related to the National Pension System (NPS), housing, basic amenities, and employee welfare
These measures are part of a broader initiative to improve police operations and public trust in Varanasi. The commissioner emphasized the importance of addressing both crime control and internal welfare to create a holistic and efficient law enforcement environment.
