Varanasi Village Erupts in Anger Over Headmaster's Alleged Sexual Harassment of Student
Tension gripped Pisaur village under the Shivpur police station in Varanasi on Monday when hundreds of enraged villagers stormed a local primary school. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for the Varuna zone, Pramod Kumar, led a combined team from the district administration, basic education department, and police to camp in Pisaur. Their mission was to pacify the villagers, who were vociferously demanding that the headmaster be handed over to them for immediate justice.
Amid tight security arrangements, the headmaster was eventually extracted from the room where he had barricaded himself from inside. Officials confirmed that a formal case has been registered against him under charges of sexual assault and the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Preliminary investigations have shed light on the harrowing sequence of events. It was revealed that the headmaster allegedly sexually harassed the young girl by showing her an obscene video on Saturday. Upon returning home, the traumatized girl confided in her family, sparking immediate outrage.
The villagers, deeply disturbed by the allegation, decided to wait for the school to reopen on Monday. As soon as classes resumed, hundreds descended upon the institution, raiding it in an attempt to apprehend the headmaster. Fearing for his safety, the headmaster locked himself inside his office room.
Angry Mob Demands Immediate Action, Wields Symbolic Protest
Shivpur police personnel rushed to the scene, attempting to convince the agitated crowd to disperse and return to their homes. However, the angry mob, many holding garlands of slippers—a potent symbol of public shaming in Indian culture—remained steadfast. They urged the authorities to hand over the accused to them, reflecting a deep-seated mistrust in formal judicial processes.
In response, the basic education officer assured the villagers that, in addition to police action, stringent departmental proceedings would be initiated against the headmaster. While these assurances convinced many villagers to leave the school campus, a significant number of youths remained, lying in wait to target the accused when he emerged.

The situation culminated in a dramatic and tense evacuation. To ensure his safety, police brought the headmaster out of the room with a helmet placed on his head for protection. He was swiftly boarded into a police vehicle and transported to the Shivpur police station for further interrogation and legal processing.
