In a tragic incident that has shocked the Vasai community, police have arrested a 26-year-old dumper driver responsible for a fatal hit-and-run accident on National Highway 48. The accident occurred on Saturday morning at Shirsad Phata, resulting in the immediate death of a 40-year-old school teacher.

The accused, identified as Pandurang Jadhav, was driving his dumper on the wrong side of the service road when he struck the victim from behind. The impact was so severe that the teacher, Swedel Edwin Gomes, died on the spot. Gomes was a dedicated primary teacher at a Zilla Parishad school and resided in Nirmal village, Vasai.
