The mysterious disappearance of Krishnalanka history-sheeter Gade Sai Krishna has triggered a major controversy, leading to administrative action within the Vijayawada police commissionerate. Vijayawada police commissioner Rajasekhar Babu has transferred Krishnalanka circle inspector Nagaraju to the vacant reserve (VR) and appointed Muralikrishna as the new inspector.
Allegations of Police Custody
According to allegations made by Sai Krishna’s family, personnel from Krishnalanka police station took him into custody at Markapuram on May 9, 2026. Family members claim that after being taken away by the police, Sai Krishna never returned home, and his whereabouts have remained unknown ever since. They have specifically accused former Nagaraju of playing a key role in the incident.
Legal Intervention
The case gained further momentum after the Bezawada Bar Association stepped in to support the victim’s family. On June 4, 2026, the association moved the Andhra Pradesh high court by filing a habeas corpus petition, seeking directions to trace and produce Sai Krishna before the court.
During the court proceedings, the vacation bench took serious note of the allegations and posted the matter for hearing on June 15. The high court also directed the police authorities to produce Gade Sai Krishna before the court and explain the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.
Significance of Transfer
The transfer of Nagaraju is being viewed as a significant development in the high-profile case, which has sparked widespread debate in legal and political circles. With the high court closely monitoring the proceedings and the victim’s family continuing its fight for answers, attention is now focused on the police investigation and efforts to determine Sai Krishna’s whereabouts.
