Attack Leaves Victim with Severed Thumb and Finger

A man from Verowal Bavian village in Tarn Taran district allegedly had his right thumb and one finger chopped off after being attacked by around 18 armed assailants a few days ago. The victim, identified as Ranjit Singh alias Sonu, lodged a complaint with the police detailing the brutal assault.

Victim's Complaint Details the Incident

According to Ranjit Singh's complaint, the attack occurred when he objected to a group of men gathering and sitting in front of his house. This angered the accused, who then allegedly came to his residence armed with a kirpan (a ceremonial dagger) and sickles. They attacked him, severing his right thumb and one finger. His brother, Jasbir Singh, was also injured during the assault.

Police Identify Ten Accused, Seven Still at Large

Police have identified ten of the alleged assailants: Sukhdev Singh alias Ladi, Gursewak Singh alias Sonu, Karanbir Singh alias Kanu, Sukhmandeep Singh, Lucky, Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi, Daljit Singh, Nona, Aniket alias Aki, and Rohit. The remaining seven suspects have yet to be identified. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to apprehend all involved.

Background of the Dispute

The victim had previously expressed his displeasure over the accused gathering and loitering in front of his home. This disagreement escalated into the violent attack, leaving Ranjit Singh with permanent injuries. The police have registered a case and are conducting further inquiries.
