Margao: Taking serious cognisance of videos showing police personnel allegedly accepting bribes at the Molem checkpost that went viral on social media, South Goa SP Shekhar Prabhudesai has ordered a preliminary inquiry into the incident.
Prabhudesai has directed Ponda deputy SP Shivram Vaingankar to conduct a thorough investigation and submit his report within two days.
“We have taken cognisance of this incident. The DySP has been asked to conduct a preliminary inquiry and submit a report. Further action will be taken based on the findings,” Prabhudesai said.
The SP added that if the allegations are substantiated, strict action will be initiated against the guilty personnel.
The video, purportedly showing police personnel accepting cash at the checkpost, surfaced on social media on Friday and quickly went viral.
