Viral Video Shows Reckless Stunts on Leopard Trail
A monsoon outing on Gurugram's Leopard Trail in the Aravalli hills escalated into a dangerous display of reckless behavior, with several youths performing risky stunts to create social media reels. The video, which has gone viral, shows multiple motorists endangering their lives and others on the rain-soaked narrow hill road. The footage prompted Gurugram Police to initiate action, identifying the vehicles involved and preparing to register a case against those responsible.
Details of the Incident
In the viral video, two young women are seen leaning out of the windows of a moving car while it speeds along the wet and slippery road. They also dance in the middle of the road in the rain as vehicles continue to pass by. Close behind the car, three young men riding separate motorcycles perform dangerous stunts without wearing helmets. The video appears to have been deliberately filmed from another vehicle traveling behind them, suggesting it was recorded for a social media reel.
Hazardous Road Conditions
Residents familiar with Leopard Trail describe the stretch as one of the most hazardous roads in the Aravalli region. The road is narrow, with several sharp bends and blind curves, making it prone to accidents even under normal conditions. During the monsoon, slippery roads and reduced visibility due to fog significantly increase the risk of mishaps, they said.
Police Response and Legal Action
Inspector Vijay Pal, Station House Officer (SHO) of Badshahpur police station, stated: "We are registering a case. The owners are being identified based on the registration numbers of the cars and bikes. Action will be taken against them for dangerous driving, performing stunts without helmets and endangering the lives of others on public roads. A further probe is underway." The police are using vehicle registration numbers to track down the offenders, and a case is being prepared under relevant traffic and public safety laws.
Impact and Safety Concerns
The incident highlights the growing trend of youths risking safety for social media fame. The Leopard Trail, popular among motorists for its scenic views, becomes particularly treacherous during monsoon. Authorities urge the public to avoid such stunts and report any reckless behavior. The police action serves as a deterrent, emphasizing that dangerous driving will not be tolerated, especially on vulnerable roads like the Leopard Trail.
