In a significant enforcement action, Visakhapatnam city police have taken three foreign nationals into custody after discovering they had overstayed their visas. The individuals, comprising two Kenyan and one Ugandan citizen, have been relocated to a local shelter home as authorities complete deportation procedures.
Visa Violation Uncovered During Raid
Police officials conducted a raid at a residential apartment in Vizag where they identified the three foreigners residing illegally in the city. Their visas had already expired, prompting immediate police intervention. While no formal case has been registered against them, law enforcement has restricted their movement within the city.
The foreign nationals have been transferred to a designated shelter home in Vizag while immigration authorities work on completing the necessary formalities for their deportation back to their home countries.
Nationwide Drug Trafficking Operation
In a separate but related development, a massive coordinated operation across multiple states has led to the arrest of more than 50 Nigerian nationals allegedly involved in drug trafficking networks throughout India.
The operation saw Delhi Police collaborating with specialized teams from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh known as EAGLE teams. Raids were conducted simultaneously in multiple locations including Delhi, Gwalior, Greater Noida, and notably in Vizag city.
Among those apprehended were three Nigerian women who had recently arrived in Visakhapatnam. All suspects face allegations of involvement in the drug trade, marking a significant breakthrough in combating international drug networks operating within Indian borders.
Ongoing Investigations and Proceedings
Authorities are currently pursuing two parallel tracks of legal action. For the three African nationals with expired visas, the focus remains on completing deportation paperwork and ensuring their safe return to Kenya and Uganda respectively.
Meanwhile, the drug trafficking case involving the Nigerian nationals continues to unfold with investigations probing the extent of their operations and networks. The successful coordination between multiple state police forces highlights the increasing effectiveness of inter-agency cooperation in tackling transnational crime.
Both cases underscore the growing challenges of immigration compliance and international drug networks that Indian law enforcement agencies are confronting with increasing frequency in recent times.
