New Delhi: A drinking water supplier was shot dead inside his shop in northeast Delhi’s Nehru Vihar on Monday evening after three men on a motorcycle allegedly opened fire on him and fled.

Investigation Underway

Police are probing whether the murder was linked to personal enmity or any previous dispute. While locals claimed that more than a dozen rounds were fired, police said the exact number of shots was yet to be confirmed.

Victim Details

Rashid, who also ran a small potable water refilling plant, was critically injured and taken to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital by residents, but was declared dead on arrival, said police. A team from Dayalpur police station went to the spot after receiving the news around 6.10pm. Some locals claimed that Rashid was under threat and had survived an attack a few months ago.

Evidence Collection

A forensic team collected evidence, including empty cartridges, and the body has been sent for postmortem. A murder case has been registered.
