Police in West Champaran Rescue Two Minor Girls from Alleged Trafficking Racket

In a significant operation, police in West Champaran district successfully rescued two minor girls from an alleged human trafficking racket and arrested two individuals during a raid in the Chautarwa area on Saturday. The swift action underscores ongoing efforts to combat exploitation in the region.

Details of the Arrest and Rescue Operation

The arrested accused have been identified as Pawan Kumar from Englishia village in Chautarwa and Anjali Kumari from Surgapatti in Madhubani district. According to Bagaha in-charge SP, Kumari Nirmala, a joint team of the Anti Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) and Chautarwa police conducted the raid in Englishia village based on a credible tip-off.

During the operation, the two minor girls were rescued from the premises. Police investigations revealed that the accused had lured the minors with promises of money, bringing them to work in an orchestra. The girls, during questioning, confirmed they were misled with financial assurances, highlighting the deceptive tactics used by traffickers.

Legal Actions and Family Reunification

Following the rescue, both girls were promptly handed over to their families, ensuring their safety and well-being. A case, registered as No. 139/26 at Chautarwa police station, has been filed under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Juvenile Justice Act, and the Child and Adolescent Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act.

SP Nirmala emphasized the commitment to eradicating such crimes, stating, "We are carrying out sustained operations under the 'Naya Savera' campaign to dismantle trafficking networks. Strict legal action will be taken against those exploiting minors." This campaign aims to provide a new dawn for vulnerable individuals through proactive policing.

Ongoing Investigations and Broader Implications

Further investigation is currently underway to identify other individuals involved in the racket, indicating that this bust may be part of a larger network. The incident sheds light on the persistent issue of human trafficking in the area, particularly targeting minors for labor exploitation.

Authorities are leveraging multi-agency collaborations to enhance surveillance and response mechanisms. The use of stringent laws like the BNS reflects a robust legal framework to prosecute offenders and deter future incidents.

This operation not only highlights the effectiveness of tip-based policing but also serves as a reminder of the importance of community vigilance in combating trafficking. Efforts continue to ensure justice and protection for all minors at risk.
