Jaipur: Police on Sunday arrested two individuals, including the wife of a labourer whose body was discovered beneath Triveni Pulia in the Shipra Path area on Friday.

Accused Identified

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Jaipur South) Rajarshi Raj Varma identified the accused as Monu Jatav (28), a native of Morena district in Madhya Pradesh currently residing in Jaipur's Nandpuri Colony, and Aarti Jatav (32), wife of the deceased Mahesh Jatav.

Investigation Details

During the investigation, police discovered that Aarti and Monu had allegedly been in a relationship for the past three years. Mahesh had reportedly learned about their relationship and frequently objected to their contact.

According to investigators, the duo then allegedly conspired to eliminate him. To gain Mahesh's trust, Monu befriended him and regularly consumed alcohol with him in the evenings.

The Murder Plot

Police alleged that on June 11, Aarti gave Monu Rs 1,200 to purchase liquor and asked him to kill her husband. Later that night, Monu allegedly spent several hours drinking with Mahesh before taking him beneath Triveni Pulia. Around 1 am, he allegedly slit Mahesh's throat with a sharp-edged weapon and fled.

Investigators said Monu later informed Aarti about the murder through an Instagram call before returning to his rented accommodation. Using CCTV footage, technical surveillance, and local intelligence, police tracked the accused's movements and arrested Monu near Ring Road while he was allegedly attempting to flee to Madhya Pradesh.

During questioning, Monu allegedly admitted to killing Mahesh at Aarti's behest, police said.
