Woman, 75, Rescued from Delhi Restaurant Fire Near Kalkaji Flyover

NEW DELHI: A 75-year-old woman was rescued after a fire broke out at a restaurant near the Kalkaji-Govindpuri flyover in southeast Delhi in the early hours of Sunday.

Fire Incident Details

The Delhi Fire Services (DFS) received an emergency call about the blaze at around 4.45 am. Nine fire tenders with approximately 54 fire personnel were immediately dispatched to H Block. Firefighters encountered flames engulfing a multi-storey building that included a basement, ground floor, three upper floors, and a temporary structure on the terrace of the third floor.

Challenges Faced by Firefighters

According to fire officials, the fire had already spread across parts of the building by the time emergency teams arrived. During the firefighting operation, three commercial LPG cylinders exploded, increasing the intensity of the fire and posing additional challenges for rescue personnel.

Rescue Operation

During the operation, a woman identified as Sita Devi was found trapped on the second floor. DFS personnel carried out a rescue operation and safely evacuated her from the smoke-filled structure.

Fire Brought Under Control

The fire was brought under control at around 5.55 am, nearly an hour after the emergency call was received. Police are investigating the exact cause of the fire. No casualties were reported in the incident.
