A 24-year-old woman was abducted from her in-laws’ residence in the Sabarmati area of Ahmedabad on Tuesday afternoon. According to police, a group of four individuals arrived in a white SUV and forcibly took the woman away after threatening her family members.
Mother-in-Law Files Complaint
The victim’s 62-year-old mother-in-law lodged a complaint with the Sabarmati police. She suspects that the abduction was orchestrated by a man from Rajasthan with whom the woman allegedly had a relationship before her marriage. The suspect is believed to have acted along with his associates.
Details from the FIR
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the woman married a Sabarmati resident in 2025 and had been living with her husband’s family in Ahmedabad for the past six months. She had recently returned from her parental home in Rajasthan after appearing for her Class 12 examination.
The complainant stated that she and her daughter-in-law were at home when a young man and a woman visited the house and purchased two quilts. Approximately one hour later, around 1:45 PM, a white SUV arrived at the residence. Three men and a woman allegedly got out of the vehicle and entered the house.
Threats and Abduction
Police said that one of the men went directly to the room where the woman was resting and attempted to wake her up. When the complainant intervened, the man allegedly brandished what appeared to be a weapon and warned her against any interference. He then pushed her to the ground.
The victim was dragged out of the house despite her cries for help, as stated in the FIR. The other members of the group allegedly assisted in forcing her into the rear seat of the vehicle before fleeing towards Motera. Neighbors gathered at the spot after hearing the commotion, but the suspects managed to escape.
Police Investigation Underway
Police have registered a case of abduction and launched efforts to trace the woman and identify the accused. Authorities are examining CCTV footage from the area and questioning neighbors to gather leads.
This incident has raised concerns about safety in the locality. Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
